Get Fit: Week 5 (Day 34)
Hello internet and future self. It's been about five weeks since I started my journey. I wasn't able to post an update for Week 4; took a trip to New York and did not have time to fully create a blog post. Here are some notable events that have happened since my last post. June 1st - Went to Golf N Stuff with Eddie and Kevin. We went to Gen Korean BBQ after the event where I then proceeded to drink alcohol and meat to my heart's content. I know it was bad, but the idea of free alcohol is hard to pass up. It's still not justified and I should do better the next time this happens. June 2nd - Gained two pounds from yesterday's eating. Proceeded to workout and put in additional time to make up for all the eating from yesterday's hang out. June 3rd - Lost .5 to 1 pounds from working out. Normalized after three days. June 5th - Had lunch with Toy from IBM and with the Mainframe crew. We ate at a Korean restaurant in Koreatown. I pursued a chicken-based bibimbap to keep calories in check. However, the portion was quite big, ended up eating a light dinner (Filipino soup). Also had Dunkin Donuts for breakfast in the morning. June 6th - Left for New York and was not able to post a Week 4 update for my blog post. Had a specialty coffee in the airport, McDonalds for breakfast, and fried chicken for dinner. Tried to pick healthier options (Egg White Delight, remove fried skin from chicken). June 7th - Lots of walking in NY. Ate Pork Tonkatsu for Lunch, two pizza slices from Eataly for dinner, and a macchiato from Starbucks. June 8th - Lots of walking in NY again. Ate BBQ Chicken from "By Chloe" with sweet potato fries and Kombucha for lunch. Ate two pizza slices and soda for dinner. Ate a salted ice cream from Sprinkles for snacks. June 9th - Ate a continental breakfast (bagels, fruits, bread, coffee). Had a variety of foods for lunch (lobster roll, Vietnamese BBQ sandwich, booze shake, cookie). Wine for happy hour. Fried steak for dinner with a cider. (Did not exercise due to early flight; slept instead). June 10th - Return flight to LA. Ate at C&O Cucina for lunch (kept portions minimal for pasta, garlic knots, etc). Dark Mocha cold brew from Starbucks for snacks. Corn tamale for dinner. Went to Anytime Fitness in Chino Hills and performed mostly cardio. June 11th - Went to Makino (Japanese buffet) for lunch. Ate mostly sushi and chicken. Had 85C coffee for snacks. No dinner. Went to Anytime Fitness in Chino Hills and performed mostly cardio. June 12th (Today) - Chicken and egg rice bowl from Daikokuya (minimal rice ate). During my trip to New York, I was able to exercise every day with the exception of the last day due to an early flight. I was surprised that I pushed myself to make an effort to exercise every day. I unofficially weighed myself after the trip and my current weight is around 241.8 pounds. For almost a week, I exercised in many guest gyms. The NY gym only had ellipticals, treadmills, bike machine, and a multifunction machine. The Chino Hills location had equipment similar to what I found in Glendale (and then some), but focused more on cardio due to the amount of additional calories from the NY trip. Personally, I feel good about myself both mentally and physically. I know that I still have a lot of work to do regarding my physical appearance. I saw an interesting post from my gym (social media) regarding a general idea of how you'll feel in several weeks: Click Here. I'm still waiting for the day that people around me start noticing the weight loss and the changes in my physical appearance. Once that happens, I will feel fully validated and will hopefully give me the confidence to continue my fitness journey. All I need to do is trust the process and be patient.
